Individual Counseling

Individual Counseling Philosophy:

I believe that each client, through an awareness of themselves and their surroundings, has the ability to reach their potentials and obtain a sense of control over their lives. I take a holistic approach to counseling, incorporating a systems view that reflects on how relational and societal systems affect individuals. Through a non-judgmental and empathetically based therapeutic relationship, I work to provide guidance in the process of increasing self-awareness, practicing self-acceptance, and ultimately having the client self-reflect in a way that brings confidence in their continuing life choices and experiences.

Approach/Theory:

I mainly practice from a strength-based counseling perspective with aspects of Narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Feminist theories, as well as incorporating parts of ecotherapy and mindfulness based practices. I place value on an open, empathetic, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship, as I believe people strive in supportive and safe environments. Clients can expect to discuss aspects of identity along with the systems of power that influence our lives.
